The EPG turns a plain channel list into a proper TV guide — what's on now, what's coming up next, and a full 7-day schedule per channel. With OwlIPTV the electronic program guide loads automatically in most players, so you browse just like cable.
An EPG is your on-screen Irish TV guide. It shows the schedule for every channel — what's on now and next, plus show descriptions — so you can plan your evening instead of clicking blindly through channels.
See exactly what's playing right now and what's coming up next on every channel, without leaving the one you're watching.
Scroll forward up to seven days to see the full schedule per channel and plan around the match, the film or your favourite series.
Read what each programme is about and browse a clean, cable-style grid — the difference between a channel list and a real TV experience.
With OwlIPTV's Xtream Codes login, the EPG usually loads automatically — no separate link needed. If you used an M3U playlist, just add the XMLTV URL once. Here's how in the two most popular players.
If you logged in with the username, password and server URL we sent, the EPG is pulled in automatically — open Live TV and check.
During playlist setup, paste your XMLTV URL into the EPG URL / Install EPG field. Use the exact same username and password as your playlist.
Reopen Live TV; the guide should show now/next. If not, refresh the EPG in settings. We'll send your EPG link on request.
TiviMate loads the EPG automatically when you add your playlist with Xtream Codes login. Most users never touch a URL.
Go to Settings → EPG → EPG sources → Add source and paste your XMLTV URL. Always copy-paste — a single typo breaks it.
In Settings → EPG set updates to "on app start" or every 12–24 hours so your guide always stays current.
Good to know: the player (IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate and similar) is third-party — OwlIPTV provides your subscription and the EPG data. Guide coverage is excellent on Irish, UK and major channels; some smaller international channels may not carry full guide data. Need your EPG/XMLTV URL or a hand setting it up? message us on WhatsApp.
EPG issues are usually quick to solve. If your guide is blank or the times look wrong, work through these.
Force a manual EPG refresh in your player settings, and check the EPG/XMLTV URL is correct. Large guides covering thousands of channels can take a few minutes to download the first time.
This is a timezone mismatch. Find the EPG time offset (or "EPG shift") setting and adjust it by an hour (+1 / -1) so it matches Irish local time. Confirm your device time zone too.
EPG data isn't available for every international channel. Irish, UK and major channels have full listings; a few niche or pop-up channels may show no data — that's normal across all providers.
Don't paste your M3U playlist link as the EPG source — the EPG needs the XMLTV URL specifically. Always copy-paste rather than typing it, and set auto-update so it refreshes daily.
A working EPG isn't just for browsing — it's what lets you roll back the guide for catch-up and schedule recordings ahead of time.
On catch-up channels, move back through the guide and play a show that already aired. See catch-up & recording.
Pick a future programme in the guide and set it to record so you never miss it, even when you're out.
Use the 7-day guide to see kick-off times and set reminders or recordings for the sport you care about.
EPG stands for Electronic Program Guide — your interactive Irish TV guide inside the player. It shows what's on now and next, a full 7-day schedule per channel, and programme descriptions, just like a cable TV guide.
With our Xtream Codes login the EPG usually loads automatically in both apps. If you used an M3U playlist, paste your XMLTV URL into the EPG field (Smarters: the "Install EPG" field; TiviMate: Settings → EPG → add source). Our setup guide has the full walkthrough.
Force a manual EPG refresh in settings and double-check the EPG/XMLTV URL is correct. Big guides can take a few minutes to download the first time. If it's still blank, message us and we'll resend your EPG link and help you set it.
That's a timezone issue. Adjust the EPG time offset (or "EPG shift") in your player by +1 or -1 hour to match Irish local time, and make sure your device's time zone is correct.
Typically up to a 7-day guide on supported channels, so you can plan the week ahead. Coverage is strongest on Irish, UK and major channels.
Yes — EPG data comes with your OwlIPTV subscription. Every plan includes the same content and guide; you just need a player that displays it (most do). Try it first with a free trial.
